Mizuho Selects Traydstream, Bringing All Three Japanese Megabanks onto TraydCheck

Mizuho Bank has selected Traydstream’s TraydCheck and TraydConnect to support its trade finance digitisation initiatives, the trade finance technology company said. The announcement was made from London and Tokyo on September 30, 2026.

With Mizuho joining MUFG and SMBC, all three Japanese megabanks now use TraydCheck. Traydstream said this makes it the only trade finance focused fintech serving all three institutions through a common document checking platform.

TraydCheck uses intelligent automation to support the scrutiny of trade documents, with the aim of reducing manual processing, improving consistency and speeding up turnaround times. TraydConnect adds digital connectivity and collaboration between banks and their corporate clients. Traydstream said that as adoption grows, the platform could support a more connected trade finance ecosystem across Japan’s financial institutions, trading companies and exporters.

The company also pointed to the reach of the mandate beyond the banks themselves. Japan’s megabanks sit at the centre of a wide network of corporates, trading companies and exporters, and Traydstream said that a consistent document checking technology across several banking relationships gives those clients a chance to standardise their documentary trade processes, cut duplicated effort and improve how information flows between counterparties.

    Traydstream: What It Means

Yutaka Izawa, Managing Director of Traydstream, said Mizuho’s selection reflects growing demand in Japan for intelligent, connected trade finance technology, and that having all three megabanks on TraydCheck gives the company an opening to support greater consistency across the country’s trade ecosystem.

“Mizuho’s selection of TraydCheck and TraydConnect is a major milestone for Traydstream and reflects the growing demand for intelligent, connected trade finance technology in Japan. With TraydCheck now used by all three Japanese megabanks, we have a unique opportunity to support greater consistency and efficiency across the country’s trade ecosystem. We are delighted to welcome Mizuho and look forward to building a strong and lasting relationship,” Izawa said.

For corporations that bank with more than one of the megabanks, the same checking technology on the other side of the table could mean fewer differences in how their documents are examined from one bank to the next. For Mizuho, the move brings its trade finance operations in line with its two largest domestic peers. For Traydstream, having all three institutions as users strengthens its position in one of the world’s most significant trade finance markets.

Digital Trade Outlook: What stands out is that all three megabanks now check trade documents on the same platform, an unusual position in a market where banks tend to choose their own systems. That shared base could matter more to Japan’s trading houses than to the banks themselves, since it opens the door to standardising documentary trade across banking relationships, though Mizuho has not disclosed a timeline or scope for its rollout.
