Jiko Puts Directly Owned Treasury Bills on CashInvest by Morgan Stanley

Treasurers using CashInvest by Morgan Stanley can hold U.S. Treasury bills directly, in their own name, through Jiko. Jiko says eligible CashInvest clients can access the offering now.

CashInvest is an institutional cash management platform that treasurers and cash managers use to consolidate global cash investing through a single online trading interface. Jiko is bringing what it calls 24/7 liquid U.S. Treasury bills to Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), giving CashInvest clients a new option.

The client relationship for the offering sits with Jiko. Clients who elect to use it will onboard directly with Jiko and become Jiko clients for the offering, subject to Jiko’s eligibility, documentation, disclosures and terms.

Jiko’s pitch is automation. Direct ownership of Treasury bills has historically required treasury teams to select maturities, manage laddering and handle reinvestment manually. Jiko says its technology, operating through its FINRA-registered broker-dealer, automates all trading, including reinvestment at maturity, with the ability to make third-party payments built in. Jiko says this keeps cash fully invested so that it “potentially earns the ‘risk-free’ rate often associated with T-bills.”

Jiko points to demand from its own 2026 Corporate Cash Confidence Survey. It says nearly half of treasurers report over 10% of corporate cash sits uninvested at any given time, and almost one in four report idle balances exceeding 25%. Jiko describes its offering as a complement to pooled fund structures.

“CashInvest is designed to provide institutional clients with a thorough, centralized interface for cash investment options,” said Rick Wilkinson, Head of Global Liquidity Platform Development, Morgan Stanley Investment Management. “Making Jiko accessible through CashInvest reflects our continued focus on expanding client choice.”

The release gives no fees, minimum balances, yields or number of eligible clients. Jiko’s disclosures state that investments in T-bills are not FDIC insured, carry no bank guarantee and may lose value.

Digital Trade Outlook’s View: The Client Belongs to Jiko

Morgan Stanley widens the CashInvest menu without taking on the client: each treasurer who signs up becomes a Jiko client. Jiko, in turn, reaches treasurers who work inside the platform. Watch whether other institutional cash portals add direct Treasury bill ownership next to pooled funds. If they do, fund providers will be competing with a holding the client owns in its own name.
