BNP Paribas is restructuring its global cash management business, and it has chosen the person who ran corporate cash management for its key clients to lead the change. Nicolas Cailly is now Head of Cash Management & Servicing Transformation.
His task has two parts. He is to grow the cash management franchise across the EMEA to US and EMEA to APAC corridors, and to change how the bank delivers servicing. BNP Paribas treats the two as one effort: faster growth, supported by an operating model that can scale without losing quality or distinctiveness, built on a mix of human expertise and technology.
“As a global leader in cash management, BNP Paribas is entering a new era of growth and innovation,” Cailly said. He added that he is proud to use the Group’s strengths worldwide, combining expertise, reach and technology to deliver added value and exceptional service to clients.
The bank gave no detail on reporting lines, teams or timelines, and named no other appointments.
Digital Trade Outlook’s View: Servicing as a Selling Point
Few banks give servicing a named leader inside a cash management mandate. Doing so suggests BNP Paribas sees day-to-day delivery as part of what wins mandates, at a time when tokenised cash is reshaping transaction banking and real-time cross-border payments are becoming the standard. The detail to watch is how the new function is staffed and when clients notice a difference.
