HLB Private Bank has launched the HLB Chief Investment Office Fund, a wholesale fund backed by the research and portfolio construction capabilities of its strategic alliance partner, Lombard Odier. The bank intends the fund to serve as the foundation for all future portfolio construction across its wealth business. The announcement was made in Singapore on September 28, 2026.
The fund is designed as a discretionary portfolio management solution, spreading investments across global equities, fixed income and specialised market instruments. Holdings are selected from an open architecture universe of more than 50,000 global funds and include active fund managers, passive instruments and high conviction direct equity positions. The fund also runs income strategies built on equity dividends, bond coupons and systematic options, with the aim of pairing capital growth with regular portfolio income.
Under the arrangement, Lombard Odier brings its proprietary CIO research and portfolio engineering into HLB’s wealth offering, while HLB contributes its understanding of regional client needs. The Swiss group was named the World’s Best Chief Investment Office at the 2025 Euromoney Private Banking Awards.
Jeffrey Yap, HLB’s Managing Director and Regional Head of Wealth Management, said the fund’s strength lies in how the bank selects and delivers investment solutions, and tied the launch to its view of diversification as the basis for long term growth.
“The true strength of the HLB CIO Fund lies in how we curate and deliver elite investment solutions to our clients. We have always advocated for strategic diversification as a solid foundation for long-term portfolio growth, and we look to provide investors with what we believe to be the best strategies and advisory available to achieve this. This institutional rigor is reflected in providing a premium portfolio handpicked specifically for Singapore and the wider region. As wealth management accelerates as a core growth area for the Bank, our commitment is to provide sophisticated, advice-driven solutions that give investors complete confidence across every market cycle,” Yap stated.
HLB Private Bank: What It Means
Marc Giesbrecht, Deputy Global CIO and Head of Investment Management at Lombard Odier Group, said the fund brings Lombard Odier’s House View and its full investment platform, from its CIO office to its research and portfolio construction teams, to HLB’s clients.
“We are delighted to launch this fund alongside our Strategic Alliance partner HLB Private Bank, reflecting our shared commitment to delivering top-tier performance and investment experience rooted in a rigorous investment framework in an increasingly complex world. This strategy embodies the philosophy and House View of Lombard Odier, bringing together the full strength of our investment platform, combining the expertise of our CIO office, global research capabilities and portfolio construction expertise. The result is a differentiated solution designed to help investors achieve resilient and sustainable investment outcomes across market cycles,” noted Giesbrecht.
The launch forms part of HLB’s three to five year strategic transformation, under which it has been expanding its wealth management business.
For clients, building portfolios from one flagship fund could make advice more consistent, since every portfolio starts from the same base. For HLB, the alliance adds a global research house to its own CIO office, giving it more depth in a competitive market for wealthy clients in Singapore and the wider region.
Digital Trade Outlook: What stands out is the model, with a regional bank pairing its client relationships with a global house’s research rather than building the full capability itself. It is the same approach regional lenders are taking in payments and trade, where they plug into specialist partners, and the fund’s reception will show whether clients value the Lombard Odier name as much as the HLB relationship.
