Mashreq has appointed Rajeev Bhatnagar as Group Chief Risk Officer. In the role, he will lead the Group’s risk management function and work with the Board Risk Committee, the Executive Committee and business leaders to strengthen risk governance, risk culture and risk management capabilities.
Bhatnagar joins from London, where he was Chief Risk and Compliance Officer International at The Bank of New York Mellon (BNY). Alongside that role, he served as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for Global Payments and Trade Finance. He previously held interim global leadership positions, including Global Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer. Reflecting on the role, Bhatnagar said today’s banking environment is shaped by “increasingly linked, multi-dimensional risks.”

Bhatnagar brings experience from the parts of banking where cross-border activity concentrates: global payments and trade finance. For a bank serving international clients, that background adds depth to a risk function meant to support growth within the bank’s approved risk appetite.
