Maersk Opens Automated Logistics Hub in Singapore to Expand Asia Pacific Distribution Capacity

By Digital Trade OutlookMarch 19, 2026

Singapore — March 18, 2026-A.P. Moller–Maersk has opened a new fully automated distribution centre in Singapore, expanding its contract logistics and e-commerce capabilities in the Asia Pacific region. The facility, known as World Gateway II, is designed to support regional and global distribution as demand for integrated logistics services continues to grow.

The company said the site will serve both business-to-business and business-to-consumer supply chains across multiple sectors, including retail, fast-moving consumer goods, technology, and wellness.

Automation and Scale to Support Regional Trade Flows

The facility spans approximately 1.1 million square feet and is located بالقرب key transport infrastructure, including Tuas Port and Changi Airport. This positioning is expected to enable efficient cargo movement across international markets while strengthening Singapore’s role as a regional logistics hub.

According to the company, the warehouse is equipped with advanced automation systems such as multi-shuttle technology, automated storage and retrieval systems, and autonomous case-handling robots. These technologies are intended to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual handling, and shorten order fulfilment times.

Maersk said the investment, valued at more than S$200 million, will support the scaling of its integrated logistics operations in Asia. The facility has reached around 70 percent occupancy and is expected to create approximately 500 jobs once fully operational.

Strengthening Singapore’s Position as a Logistics Hub

Government agencies in Singapore highlighted the strategic importance of the project. Authorities said the new facility supports efforts to enhance supply chain resilience and strengthen Singapore’s position as a key logistics and distribution centre in Asia Pacific.

The site offers connectivity advantages, with proximity to major ports and airports, and includes features such as customs-bonded storage and integrated transport management systems for real-time tracking of shipments.

In addition to warehousing and distribution, the facility provides value-added services such as packaging, labelling, and inventory management, aimed at supporting regional trade operations.

Digital Systems and Sustainability Features Integrated

The warehouse incorporates digital systems, including an integrated warehouse management platform that allows real-time visibility and coordination across supply chains. These capabilities are designed to improve accuracy and responsiveness in logistics operations.

The facility has also been developed with sustainability considerations, including energy-efficient systems and renewable energy integration. Certifications such as LEED Platinum and Green Mark Platinum reflect efforts to reduce environmental impact.

    Industry Context

Logistics providers are increasingly investing in automated and digitally integrated facilities to support the growth of e-commerce and regional trade flows. As supply chains become more complex, companies are focusing on improving efficiency, visibility, and resilience through technology-driven infrastructure.

Singapore continues to attract such investments due to its strategic location, connectivity, and established role in global trade networks.

    Digital Trade Outlook Analysis

Maersk’s investment reflects the growing importance of automated logistics infrastructure in enabling faster and more efficient trade flows across Asia Pacific. The integration of digital systems and real-time visibility tools highlights how logistics providers are evolving to support increasingly data-driven supply chains. Such developments are expected to play a key role in strengthening regional trade connectivity and resilience.
