Thunes Launches Real-Time Cross-Border Payout Solution for Global Gig Workforce

Thunes Launches Real-Time Cross-Border Payout Solution for Global Gig Workforce

Singapore — March 30, 2026 — Thunes has introduced a cross-border payout solution designed to enable businesses to pay freelancers, remote teams and gig workers instantly across international markets.

The new offering allows companies to process payments in real time into bank accounts, mobile wallets and stablecoin wallets across more than 140 countries. The solution is delivered through a single API, removing the need for multiple integrations or local payment relationships.

Addressing Fragmentation in Global Workforce Payments

Cross-border payroll and gig economy payments have long been constrained by slow processing times and fragmented infrastructure. According to the company, a large majority of gig workers prioritise fast access to funds when choosing payment platforms.

Thunes said its network connects businesses directly to local payment systems such as M-Pesa, Alipay and GCash, allowing funds to be delivered more quickly and with fewer intermediaries. The platform also supports stablecoin payouts, enabling workers in volatile currency markets to receive payments in a more stable form of value.

The move positions Thunes alongside a growing group of payment infrastructure providers targeting global workforce payments, an area seeing increased demand as remote and platform-based work expands.

    Expanding Use Cases Across Industries

The solution is being used across multiple use cases, including global payroll, gig platforms, e-commerce refunds and insurance payouts. It is also being applied by organisations operating in regions where traditional payment infrastructure remains limited.

Thunes operates a global payments network that supports real-time transactions across a wide range of endpoints, including bank accounts, wallets and cards. The company connects to billions of endpoints through multiple payment methods and operates across more than 140 countries.

Headquartered in Singapore, Thunes provides payment infrastructure to banks, fintechs and enterprises, supporting cross-border transactions at scale.

    Digital Trade Outlook Analysis

Thunes’ new payout solution highlights the growing importance of real-time infrastructure in supporting the global gig and remote workforce. As businesses increasingly operate across borders, the ability to deliver instant, flexible payments is becoming a competitive requirement. The inclusion of stablecoin payouts also signals a shift toward alternative payment rails in workforce compensation.
